Ballater has changed very little since Queen Victoria regularly spent so much time in her favourite castle at Balmoral. The village is ideally placed for walking in the Cairngorm Mountains, a peaceful drive around the Castle Trail, or a visit to Lochnagar Distillery or the Whisky trail beyond.  Ballater Golf Club is within easy distance and famous courses at Carnoustie and St. Andrews are only a scenic drive from here.
